Artificial intelligence is changing how independent school marketing teams work. Tasks that once required hours can now be completed in minutes. Writing assistance, content planning, image manipulation, and workflow automation offer opportunities for small departments that have historically operated with limited resources.
But greater efficiency raises an important question: What should we do with the time we gain? If AI simply allows us to produce more content, respond to more requests, and fill more communication channels, we may be missing its greatest opportunity.
Technology can help us communicate more efficiently, but it cannot replace the trust built through relationships, the emotional instincts of a thoughtful storyteller, or the lived experiences that make our school communities distinctive. Perhaps the real promise of AI isn’t that it will help us do more, but that it will create space for us to do more of what matters. As technology becomes increasingly capable of producing content, our uniquely human ability to connect, understand, and tell authentic stories becomes even more valuable.
